Unlock the power of the Hybrid Cloud with ComodIT

Today we are happy to officially announce support for two of the most important open-source private clouds on the market: Eucalyptus and Openstack. Together with our already existing support for public clouds, this puts ComodIT in a perfect position to support your company in embracing a Hybrid Cloud strategy.
The key idea behind the Hybrid Cloud concept is to seamlessly integrate a public cloud (such as Amazon EC2 or Rackspace Open Cloud) with a private cloud, giving you the flexibility to deploy machines in one or the other based on needs, costs, capacity, etc. For example, you could keep core business applications on your premises, while you leverage the public cloud for short-lived testing and quality assurance deployments. Other usage scenarios include ‘cloud bursting’ where you leverage the public cloud to support a temporary burst in demand on your services.
Yet, to fully benefit from a Hybrid Cloud strategy, you must have a toolchain that enables you to seamlessly integrate both (or multiple) clouds. You don’t want to juggle between different management dashboards, user accounts, etc. In addition, you don’t want to maintain different automation scripts and recipes for each platform.
This is where ComodIT can help you unlock the power of the Hybrid Cloud. Our solution provides a single pane of control spanning all your clouds (and your legacy virtual/physical environments). We make it seamless to re-deploy hosts from one cloud to another and even to re-deploy a complete environment on a different platform for disaster recovery or testing. All this with consolidated identity management, auditing and compliance. In addition, our unique API enables you to orchestrate complex scenarios across cloud. Managing machines, applications and their configurations using the same API.
Single pane of glass across your clouds
The following screencast shows you how you can leverage ComodIT kickstart based installation process to seamlessly re-deploy a host from Amazon EC2 to Rackspace. The same process can be used across any platform supported by ComodIT, especially to re-deploy from your private cloud to your public cloud.
Orchestration of a cloud bursting scenario
This screencast shows how to orchestrate a complex scenarios of cloud bursting across a private Eucalyptus cloud and the Amazon EC2 public cloud. In this scenario, we use the ComodIT API to define hosts, provision them, and then re-configure applications. The fact that you can do all of this using a single API, with a common language binding, drastically simplifies orchestration of complex scenarios.
Deploying a private cloud on a physical infrastructure with ComodIT
Finally, this third screencast shows you how we could deploy a simple Eucalyptus private cloud using a couple of ComodIT application templates and our gPXE based provisioning. It just takes a few clicks and less than an hour to have your private cloud ready to go and be managed by ComodIT.
